Thlai Thar Lawm 2020

July is the season for the celebration of God’s bountiful blessings. Members of the Independent Church of India in every local church celebrate the ‘Thlai Thar Lawm’ (Thlai: vegetables/farm products, thar: new, lawm: celebrate) festival every year arounf=d July. They would bring their best products from their fields to the church and offer it to the LORD. The members would give thanks to the Lord for His blessings and then there will be a fellowship program of sorts with singing and sharing.

Some of the fruits that can be eaten (cucumbers, pineapples and other fruits) will then be prepared by the youth department and distributed for all who are present at the celebration. The rest of the offerings including other vegetables will then be sold and bought, the fund from which will go to the Local Church Committee fund.

This year, due to the Covid-19 crisis, many of the churches could not celebrate it properly. But many of them brought their offerings and farm products anyway, celebrating God’s blessings even during this crisis.
