Youth Week

Greetings to all youth members of the Independent Church of India who will be observing the Youth Week during 20-26th May, 2019. May this week be a week of blessings, both physically and spiritually for all of you.

The beginning of the Youth Week: The 19th Central Youth Conference of 2002, in its Resolution Number 11 decided to observe a Youth Week every year. By the grace of God, we have observed 17 Youth Weeks so far. This is the 17th.

Purpose: The main purpose of observing this Youth Week is to bring the youth closer to Christ during this week every year by organising church services, sports, and different activities. All church services  during the week is to be led by the youths.

Time: It was first decided that this week should be observed during the second week of May every year. But the General Assembly had called for the observation of Mother’s Day in the second week itself. As such, the Youth Week was moved to the third week. But then, since the third week coincides with the Hmar Martyrs Day observation again, it has been finally decided to have the Youth Week during the last week of May every year, and it has been so.

More: Since the Independent Church of India comprised of different local churches in different regions all over India, it has been decided that the main subject of the Week be prepared by each Presbyteries and Mission Fields to suit their own contexts and conditions.

Additionally, during this week, each Youth unit is expected to organise voluntary social works, and to contribute to help those in need of help.
